In January 2004, Cherry J. Hearn became of counsel to ALIMONTI LAW OFFICES, P.C., launching our first out-of-state office. Ms. Hearn founded the Law Office of Cherry J. Hearn in Dallas, Texas, in May 2002, to advise and represent clients in a broad range of matters including civil litigation, business transactions, and intellectual property development and licensing. Ms. Hearn's litigation practice encompasses both plaintiff and defense perspectives in a variety of industries, such as travel, real estate, manufacturing, internet, publishing, and telecommunications. Prior to establishing her own practice, she worked as an assistant general counsel for Travelocity.com, where she provided intellectual property and general corporate legal advice to all levels of the company. She has also worked as an associate counsel in the internet startup company NetLibrary, Inc., where she focused on trademark, copyright, and licensing issues, and as a litigation associate at the reputable Denver law firm, Sherman & Howard, LLC. Ms. Hearn received her Bachelor or Science degree in Accounting from Phillips University in 1978 and became a licensed CPA. In 1995, she earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law, where she served on the University of Colorado Law Review as a casenote and comment editor. Her first year of post-graduate work was at the Colorado Court of Appeals, as law clerk to the Chief Judge. Ms. Hearn served as co-chair of the ABA’s Section of Litigation Intellectual Property Committee from 1999-2002 and as an adjunct professor of Intellectual Property at Texas Wesleyan School of Law in Fall 2003. In addition, Ms. Hearn is a frequent speaker at national and local bar conferences on the subjects of the internet and intellectual property. Ms. Hearn recently co-authored a paper entitled “Aviation Case Update 2003-2004”. This paper and the accompanying presentation have been approved for legal ethics credits in New York and Texas as well as for insurance licensing credits in Texas. ALIMONTI LAW OFFICES, P.C. will be presenting this paper throughout 2004. Ms. Hearn is admitted to the Texas and Colorado State Bars. |
